Tour Overview

06:00 AM – Pick-Up & Departure from Nairobi

Your driver/guide will pick you from your preferred location in Nairobi. Begin the scenic drive along the Nairobi–Naivasha Highway with views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

 

08:00 AM – Arrive at Mt. Longonot National Park Gate

Register at the park gate
Attend a short briefing on the trail route, safety, and what to expect
Stretch and prepare for the hike

 

08:30 AM – Begin the Hike to the Summit

Start your ascent through rugged volcanic terrain, acacia woodlands, and open trails.

The hike to the rim takes about 2–3 hours, depending on pace.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Rift Valley.

 

12:00 PM – Crater Rim Walk (Optional)

If you have energy and time, do the full 7.2 km walk around the crater rim.

Takes an extra 2–3 hours
Offers panoramic views of the crater floor and Lake Naivasha in the distance.

01:30 PM – Begin Descent

Hike down steadily past the trail you came from. The descent usually takes 1.5–2 hours.

 

03:00 PM – Picnic Lunch / Drive to Naivasha for Lunch

Choose between:

Packed picnic lunch at the park or
A relaxing meal by Lake Naivasha at a nearby restaurant (At your own cost)

 

04:30 PM – Drive Back to Nairobi

Depart Naivasha/Longonot area and head back to the city.

 

06:30 PM – Drop-Off in Nairobi

End of your Mt. Longonot adventure with unforgettable memories from Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.
